We’ve officially moved into month four! It’s an uneventful milestone, but exciting nonetheless.
I have to start off with my most exciting thing from this week: Matt got me the absolute best birthday present ever!!! It took forever to get here (thank you crazy snow storm…) but it was soooo worth the wait! He bought me the Kate Spade baby bag that I’ve been lusting over for months! It was such a huge surprise, and I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I just started crying! I couldn’t help myself. I just kept thinking about what an amazing husband I have! He is so thoughtful and caring and I am soooo very lucky to have him in my life.
The bag is adorable it has two different straps (one to carry it with and one to hang it on the stroller) millions of pockets for all those millions of baby things, and an adorable poka-dotted roll up changing pad. The best part is the whole inside wipes clean with a damp cloth! I am going to be such a styling mama!
Christmas was wonderful. We got to spend it with my immediate familiy this year, which was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the low-key aspect of our holiday and how casual everything was. Not to mention how comfortable it was to be “home” and not have to travel.
I got a whole bunch of maternity clothes for my birthday/Christmas which was sooo wonderful! I’m still too small for about half of them, but the other half I can wear right away. It was a good mix of both!
Getting new maternity clothes made me want to take a good hard look at my closet. I figured out pretty early in our marriage that Matt will support my decision to buy new clothes if he can see that I have very little to wear. That means I can’t keep clothes in my closet that don’t fit or that I don’t wear. So last night I did a full closet purge.
I made three piles of clothes—”Still Fits”, “Save for Post Pregnancy” and “Goodwill”. About 40% of my closet was left in the “Still Fits” category when I was done. After I hung up that 40%, and bagged the Goodwill pile I sat down on the bed to carefully fold my wardrobe favorites that I am optimistically saving for after my pregnancy. As I placed each carefully chosen item on the pile I wispered “don’t worry, you’ll be back in my closet in no time!”. I’m not sure if it was more beneficial for the garments or for me. Either way we both felt better after the reassurance.
On Monday we had our four month doctor’s appointment. This appointment was with a different doctor in the practice because our doctor wasn’t available when we needed to be seen. I know a lot of women get worked up about not having their doctor available for their appointments or delivery, but it doesn’t really bother me. I feel like I am prepared to do my part of the pregnancy and birth and I just need a doctor to be there incase things go wrong. So anyhow, I was delighted to meet Dr. Olds, another one of the five OB/GYNs that work at our practice.
She was very warm and pleasant and it was fun to talk to someone new about my pregnancy and get her advice on things like vitamins and muscle cramps. She listened to the heartbeat (155 beats per minute) and sent me on my way! The most exciting part of the appointment was the news that we get to schedule our ultrasound where they find out the sex as early as 18 weeks!!! I thought we had to wait until we were 20 weeks. Anytime after 18 weeks, whenever we can get in to the ultrasound office, we can find out if its a boy or a girl! I’m super excited! We haven’t schedule the appointment yet, because we need to wait a few days for the ultrasound order to get faxed to the ultrasound office. But as soon as its scheduled you can bet I’ll have a countdown going!
That’s all for this week! Hope everyone has a happy new year!
