At our last doctor’s appointment they let me know that I could call to schedule my next ultrasound anytime after week 18! This is the exciting ultrasound when we find out the sex!
I was so excited I called to book the appointment right away! I was delayed, however, byt a major paperwork backup at my doctor’s. They had to reschedule a whole bunch of appointments due to the crazy weather we had the week leading up to Christmas. So the whole office was slammed trying to catch up. Anyhow, the reason it affected us was because the doctor needs to fax the ultrasound order over to the ultrasound office before I can book my appoinment. And it took them until today to do so.
But we’re in! Monday, January 19th at 10AM!
I’m a little excited…can you tell?
We finally get to associate a gender with this little creature growing in my belly. I’ve always hated gender stereotypes in the past and worked hard to overcome them/not use to them. But man-oh-man finding out the sex of our baby is going to be special. Once we know the sex, our baby becomes a son or a daughter…and that’s huge in our psychological preparation for this child. I could go on and on…but I won’t.
Also, yesterday, we got the final results from our first trimester screening: our baby has a 1 in 6,000 chance of having down syndrome (0.02%….that’s good) and a 1 in 10,000 chance of having Trisomy 18, another genetic disorder (0.01%…again, that’s good!). So more good news on top of good news! It’s been a good week!
As far as how I’m feeling…I’m doing great! I really notice it when I’ve gone too long between snacking/eating, so I seem to always have some kind of food or beverage near by. And I’ve been suuuuper thirsty for milk! I go through a gallon a week! By myself! We have to buy a separate half gallon of milk just so Matt has enough to make coffee with. It’s pretty amusing and I don’t feel bad about it at all. Our baby’s bones are turning from cartilage to bone right now and I need an ample supply of calcium so it doesn’t strip my body of this essential mineral.
Everything seems to be on track! My belly is really starting to stick out! I’ll try to get some new photos posted soon.
Hope you all have a good week!
