Last Saturday I had my wonderful baby shower! It was such a fabulous event, I’m really sorry more people couldn’t make it. The best part of the shower was, of course, all of the amazing gifts! I have some of the most generous friends in the world and I now have the beginnings of a very respectful baby gear collection.
Party favors: chocolate covered espresso beans and the recipe for a chocolate materna-tini
One of the events at my baby shower was a diaper raffle. Guests were encouraged to bring diapers of all sizes, and for every five diapers, each guest got one entry into a drawing for an aromatherapy spa pedicure from DOSHA Salon Spa. It was fun for me (because I got a huge jump start on diapers!) and for the girls (because they got a chance to win a pedicure!). I made out with six packs of diapers!
When I got home I sorted the diapers by size and was ecstatic to learn that I had three packages of 40 newborn size diapers…thats 120 diapers!! I stood back admiring my pile of baby-poop-catchers and thought, “that is a ton of diapers! I should be set for months!”. I then realized that babies go through 10-12 diapers per day…so that means I have 10 days worth of diapers. Oh the shock! Oh well…it’s a great start, and I have a whole bunch of different brands and types to try so we can dial in on our favorite!
On Sunday, the day after my shower, I spent the better half of the day cleaning and organizing the tiny closets of our apartment to make room for all of the baby goodies. I cleaned and rearranged our bathroom storage closet, so we now have a place for baby bath stuff. I cleaned out and consolidated my dresser drawers so now we have one drawer dedicated to baby stuff! And finally, I purchased a wire shelving system from Target and cleaned out our closet so we now have a place to store all of those great diapers and gifts until we need them. What a day!
Today was the first crummy pregnancy day I’ve had. Not bad…32 weeks and my first crummy day. I think our little one just went through a growth spurt and my body is trying to adjust. I’ve felt like every muscle in my torso, front and back, has been cramping on and off all day. I just can’t get comfortable and every time she moves something new flares up. Ugh…I really hope this goes away. I’m not sure how long I can manage this.
Tomorrow Matt and I are hitting the baby supply stores to check out the rest of the necessities on our list. I’m looking forward to doing baby stuff with him all day! Yippee!
