So here we are…37 weeks which means our baby is officially considered full term! Woo hoo! With this fabulous milestone comes the loss of my ankles.
My ankles have always been good to me. Even when I broke the right one in 9th grade during a soccer game, it healed quickly and perfectly and never gave me any residual issues. They’ve always been there for me—giving me stability when life’s road becomes uneven, providing strength at the end of a long day, and always getting me back to my feet when I stumble.
While they’re still able to do all of their previous functions, they’ve traded their beautiful, angular shape for a more round, puffy shape. *sigh* And where before, I never felt limited by my ankles, I now carefully consider each “trip” I take because the consequences of spending a day on my feet means more time off my feet to get the swelling back down.
I’m sure there are plenty of people who would welcome the excuse to sit on the couch all day with their feet up, but here’s a little secret about me….I can’t stand anything that limits me!
Join me, and a trip down memory lane with my ankles…

PS…my quest for pre-pregnancy pictures of my ankles proved to be quite difficult. It turns out that ankles are a rarely photographed part of the body!
