Adelaide and I spent this past weekend in Sunriver, just the two of us. It was a trip planned for the purpose of getting the baby out of the house for a significant amount of time, so that Matt could work on the house and not worry about where he puts his power tools or how much noise he’s making.
I knew it would be difficult to be a single parent, away from home all weekend, but the reality was so much more exhausting than I could have predicted. I was very happy when Matt called us on Sunday, said he missed us, and asked if we wouldn’t mind cutting our vacation short. ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Despite the weekend’s challenges, I do have some fun memories. Here are some of my favorites:
Enjoying her first pumpkin pancake of the season (at home before we left Saturday morning)
SHE SLEEPS! She actually slept for 30 minutes during our 4-hour drive to Sunriver!! That is exactly 30 minutes more than she slept on our 3-hour drive to Seattle in July….
Adelaide’s first ever Happy Meal. She was much more interested in the box, than the food that came in the box.
Two remote controls!??!! She was in toddler heaven!
Watching TV in bed with mommy in the morning.
(We don’t have a tv in our bedroom at home, so she never gets to do this)
And, of course, the beautiful scenery on the drive home.
