Due to some mommy guilt over leaving my coming-down-with-something baby at home with a less than stellar meal and her daddy to do ALL of the nighttime routine, I decided that Thursday was going to be an Adelaide day.
Most days at home revolve around what I need to get done and when those things need to be accomplished by. So instead, Thursday was completely on Adelaide time. I fixed meals, but let her come to the table to join me (instead of being cajoled into her high chair). And the meals I fixed were her favorites (not just what I felt like making that day). For example, lunch was three of her favorites: cottage cheese, whole wheat Ritz crackers and an Ella’s Kitchen fruit and veggie puree.
After lunch I decided to take her to the park. It was another GORGEOUS fall day (cool but sunny), and I’ve been trying to take advantage of these days before they’re gone! So, off we went to Gabriel park.
It was about two in the afternoon which meant we pretty much had the park to ourselves. I let Adelaide do whatever she wanted to do! I followed her around as she wandered and stopped to look at things and pick things up and chase the dogs and squirrels and just be herself! I got some great photos of her during her park exploration. Check them out in the gallery.
After about an hour or so of exploring the park I decided it was time to move on to our next activity—a walk to Laughing Planet Cafe for smoothies! I knew Adelaide would enjoy her smoothie, but it is impossible to convince a toddler that anything is worth leaving the park. After a short tantrum we were back in the stroller and off toward the cafe. It’s only about a block from the park, so Adelaide enjoyed everything there was to see on our walk.
We ordered a banana, strawberry and apple juice smoothie and split it between two cups. She drank almost all of hers!
After our smoothies were gone, it was time to go home and rest. I thought she would DEFINITELY take an afternoon nap (head cold + physical exertion at the park = tired toddler). But no…she just hung out in her crib for an hour playing with bear, bunny and blankie. Oh well. It is still quiet, rest time, and that’s worth something.
We had a really fun day on Adelaide time!
