Day 3: My idea of a perfect first date.
How funny is it that I don’t remember any of my fist dates except for the first date I had with Matt? I guess that’s the only one that matters, right!? And since I don’t plan on having any more first dates, I’ll just describe my most favorite first date ever—my first date with my (then) boyfriend, Matt.
Matt always was, and still remains, a perfect gentleman and chivalrous to the core. Nancy must have done something right when she raised him because he was (and is) like no other man I had dated.
For our first date we went to see V for Vendetta a week or two after it was released in Theaters! It is such a great movie, we still really enjoy it, and I love that it’s part of our “story”. It was a late movie (like 9PM) but after it was over we decided to head over to one of my favorite local bars in Sacramento, Streets of London.
I really enjoyed Guinness back then, and the ONLY way to drink it is on-tap, so Matt bought us a round and we sipped our dark beers and got lost in conversation with each other. I don’t remember much of what we talked about, but I do remember smiling and laughing a lot.
We were having such a great time that when our beers were gone I offered to buy a second round. And I’ll never forget Matt’s response, “I can’t turn down a free beer from a pretty girl!”. I knew he was a keeper.
The hands-down highlight of the night was when he took me home, walked me to my door, and gave me the cliché goodnight kiss. That kiss, on my front porch, was the best kiss I’ve ever had in my entire life. There were fireworks and everything! Apparently when he took a step back to say goodbye, I had some crazy look on my face that told him I enjoyed it. LOL!
And the rest is history!
