Adelaide’s nap has moved from a morning nap to an afternoon nap which has meant a pretty big shift in our morning routine. Instead of lounging around in our PJs until her 10am nap, I’m now getting up ahead of her and getting dressed and we’re actually going out and doing things in the morning! Like this morning when we had a lovely mommy-baby outing.
We dropped Matt off at work then headed over to a little cafe in Hillsdale called Baker and Spice. It is super cute and makes great coffee and treats. We split a crumble cake and Adelaide got to drink out of a cup with a straw (always exciting) while I enjoyed a tasty latte.
We sat at their large community table with a handful of other patrons, which meant Adelaide was super intrigued by all of the new people she got to see up close. Just before we were ready to leave, another mommy and her two-year-old daughter sat down by us. The girls enjoyed exchanging stares and exclamations about their surroundings. “CAR!!!” “RAISIN!!!” “CUP!!!”
We left Baker and Spice and headed around the corner to the library—which didn’t open for another 15 minutes. It wasn’t raining when we parked the car, so I decided to let Adelaide explore the sidewalk and park near the library.
Of course, two minutes after getting out of the car it started raining…so we played in the front seat of the car while we waited for the library to open.
Story time at the Hillsdale library turned out to be a room full of mommies and their sitting/crawling babies! How great!! Adelaide and the little girl she met at Baker and Spice were the only walkers in the room. We sang songs, made
music noise, read books and got to play with some sweet toys. What a great way to spend a morning!
After story time we signed up for our library card and checked out Adelaide’s first ever library books!
I’m really glad we finally made it over to the library! Now it will be that much easier to utilize all of the great resources our Library has to offer!
