Our trip to Houston coincided with daylight savings time, so what would have been a two hour time change was actually a three hour time change. It proved to be a more difficult adjustment for Adelaide than we anticipated and our first two nights were spent in and out of her room trying to get her to sleep.
My parents (wonderful people that they are!) anticipated our exhaustion and planned absolutely nothing for our first two days. It was exactly what we needed.
Sunday was spent relaxing on the patio and the couch and catching up with each other. And later that evening my sister and her husband brought their sweet little dog Jake over and joined us for dinner. Adelaide seemed to really like seeing a dog her size—but what she enjoyed even more than Jake was his dog bed!
We were woken up Monday morning by an AWESOME thunder storm! I’ve never experienced anything like it. Completely awe inspiring! Along with the thunder that shook the house and the lightning that filled every room it was also raining harder than I’ve ever seen. These were my horrible attempts and documenting the storm:
After the storm let up we had a beautiful day! That afternoon my mom, Adelaide and I went on a walk to the park and pond in their neighborhood. You can check out all of the photos in the gallery, but here are some of my favorites:
Later that evening we were treated to a real Texas treasure—Rudy’s Barbecue! My sister and brother-in-law sent us some of the Rudy’s barbecue sauces as part of a Christmas gift this year, so we were VERY excited to get to taste the real thing. IT WAS AMAZING! Most tender brisket EVER! We really enjoyed it. Do you think they take mail orders?
Mmm…Texas tastes good!
