My sweet baby girl turned two this past weekend! We had a birthday party for her on Sunday and invited all of her “aunts and uncles” (Matt’s and my friends who have known her since she was born) as well as her friend Emerson. Matt’s best friend Bill and his wife Betty were also in town for the weekend from California and brought along their son, Ben (15 months). It was my first time getting to meet Ben and I really enjoyed having them here for the big party!
Matt and I were completely overwhelmed by our friends and how much they care about our little girl. It was a very sobering moment for us to look around the room and see people we’ve known for years and years and realize that they still like us and want to be part of our lives, toddler and all!
Adelaide’s party was sort-of “garden” themed. Her invitations had her picture as the center of a flower, so I used their color scheme (pink, yellow and green) and the flower theme and went with it. I decided to make dirt cake instead of traditional cake or cupcakes because it fit the theme better. And then to top the dirt cake I got to use my Cricut to make little paper flowers on popsicle sicks. They turned out great!
Then I got to use my Cricut again to make a Happy Birthday banner. It really turned out cute!
That’s all for decorations, so here are some pics my friend Anna snapped of Adelaide opening her gifts!
Adelaide and Emerson checking out a toy.
Betty and Ben!
Party guests Nate, Brandon, Nina and Joy
Adelaide and Ben going through the giant box of goodies from Nina.
So excited about the “color and build” cardboard play house from Brandon!
Ugly dolls from Kate, and new markers and paper from Mommy and Daddy.
Wearing her beads from Anna!
So many coloring books and crayons!
Soccer stuff from Nate!!
Adelaide got her very first baby doll! We’re hoping this will be useful in preparing for her new sibling.
Adelaide seemed to really love all of the attention during her party (she might have more of her mommy in her than we thought!) and she was so wonderfully tired out by all of the festivities that she slept great that night! All in all, it was a very successful 2nd birthday party!
