Adelaide and I had a pretty busy and fun week last week! Matt worked all week…poor guy. Anyhow, here’s a little bit of what Adelaide and I did!
Monday: Playing outside in our new shade!
We are immediately benefiting from the sun shade Matt installed last weekend! Hooray for backyard shade!
Tuesday: Jamison Square Fountain
It hit me on Tuesday, that this is my last summer, ever, with just one child. Next summer, I’m going to have a 7 month old and a 3 year old (GOD HELP ME!), and doing something semi-simple, like going to Jamison Square Fountain, is going to be immeasurably more difficult. So now, I really want to make the most of our last few weeks of summer and do everything I can with my ONE kiddo!!
Wednesday: Quick trip to the grocery store with my little helper.
Adelaide is usually a super big pain when I have to go to the grocery store, so I do my best to avoid “quick trips” because they end up being the complete opposite. But, on Wednesday, I had no choice. We were out of milk and eggs—pretty critical items in our house. My brilliant solution was to have Adelaide bring her toy shopping basket with us to the store, and help mommy do the shopping! It worked like a charm! She picked out a plum and graham crackers while I grabbed the milk and eggs.
Thursday: Play date with Emerson!
I watched Emerson Thursday morning so her mom could have a few hours to herself. The girls always enjoy playing with each other, so it makes play-dates pretty easy. I made a muffin tin picnic lunch that we ate in the backyard while the girls played. The muffin tin was full of finger foods: star shaped PB&J sandwiches, pretzel sticks, bananas, mandarin oranges, freeze dried yogurt, plums and pears. Lunch was followed by bubbles! Emerson is a HUGE fan of bubbles!
Friday: Brunch with Kate!
I wish I had pictures from our brunch, but I didn’t get my camera out!! Kate did, though, so I’ll have to have her send me the ones she took. The most entertaining part of brunch was walking to and from the restaurant in downtown Portland. We were on SW 6th Avenue, which is primarily used by busses and the MAX, and Adelaide WENT NUTS seeing all of these busses and “trains” up close. She was jumping and pointing and screaming with delight. Oh to be a toddler!
