I’ve been getting more and more questions about a baby shower or registry, so I thought I’d get some answers out there.
We will not be having a baby shower for baby number two. We will, however, be doing a baby meet-and-greet party in January. I think it will be more fun to have our little one at the party to meet all our friends, so that’s our plan!
As far as a registry goes…Thanks to Adelaide, we have most everything we need. I have, however, created a list of the items (some fun, some boring…like diapers) that are still on our “to get” list. There is a link to the registry, aka Baby List, on the left hand side of my site. Or you can use this link: Bauer Baby List.
More useful than “things” though, would be the gift of a meal. I can’t even express how disorienting those first weeks home with a new baby are, and it would be amazing to know that dinner is being taken care of, at least for a few nights. I’ve created an account with Food Tidings which is an online scheduling tool for exactly this—scheduling meals for a family. Since I don’t actually know when little miss Bauer will make her debut, I’ve just opened up all of the days between my due date and when we’ll have family in town to cook for us (Love you mom! Love you Nancy!). After she’s born I’ll fine tune the calendar. The site is really easy to use and should alleviate Matt or I (and our sleep deprived, new-baby-brains) from having to coordinate with people individually.
Since we also have a abundance of out of town family and friends, meal delivery services like Magic Kitchen are also a great way to go! Just throwing that one out there.
Anyhow, hope that answers some of the lingering questions about how you can best show your love and support for our family during this exciting time. Our friends are constantly surprising us with their generosity and support. It makes Matt and I feel like we have family right here in Portland, instead of hundreds, and thousands, of miles away. THANK YOU!
