We had a pretty low-key Halloween this year. No costumes, no parties, just family time and some extra fun sprinkled in.
We started the day with pumpkin pancakes, except we carved them into jack-o-lanterns!
Then during Adelaide’s nap (11am-1pm) Matt and I watched The Exorcist, which I had never seen. Turns out it’s a great movie! And Matt was a sweetheart and let me watch it during the day, so I won’t get nightmares! Yay!
Once Adelaide woke up, and we all ate lunch, it was time to carve pumpkins!
This was Adelaide’s first experience with pumpkins and their insides. She was not a fan! She was content to simply hold spoons and watch mommy clean out the pumpkin.
After pumpkins was dinner, and after dinner was bath time, and after bath time Adelaide TOLD US that it was bedtime. So we put her to bed. 30 MINUTES BEFORE HER NORMAL BED TIME! It was very sweet of her to offer to go to bed early for us. What an angel!
After we got her in bed, Matt disconnected the door bell chime (which is right outside Adelaide’s door) and Matt and I answered the knocks from the trick-or-treaters until around 9 when we turned off the porch light! This is Matt’s and my first experience giving out candy to trick-or-treaters as a married couple. We never opted in at our apartment complex, so this was a first for us!
Like I said, not a terribly exciting Halloween, but still a fun one.
