Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of fun, food and family!
We had a very low-key Thanksgiving—just Matt, Adelaide and I. Since this little girl could be here any day now, we didn’t want to commit to being anywhere or hosting anyone. It was quiet, but nice.
I turned on the parade in the morning for Adelaide and I to watch.
It’s been a few years since I’ve really watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade, so I thought it was odd that so many staged Broadway performances were taking up precious screen time, when we could have been watching the balloons! Adelaide liked the balloons…but wasn’t entertained by the song and dance numbers. Anyhow…
Breakfast was a family favorite—pumpkin french toast! Mmmmm…tasty.
After breakfast, it was a pretty typical day—play time, lunch, nap time, more play time.
Since it was just the three of us, we decided to keep dinner at our normal dinner time (around 6:30), when Adelaide would be hungry. So we started prepping dinner around 3:30.
I bought, what turned out to be, 3/4 of a turkey. haha! It was all breast, no wings or legs. Not a big deal, but funny! Our little 4 lb turkey got rubbed down with herbs and oil and stuffed with aromatics and put in our counter top rotisserie to cook away.
It turned out AMAZING! Mmmm…and it smelled soooo gooooood. Really awesome way to do a small bird. I’m going to have to use our rotisserie more, now. (I’ve used it once in five years…yesterday was use number two…LOL!)
In addition to turkey we had three side dishes—stuffing, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. And for dessert a pumpkin pie, made from homemade pumpkin!
Last year, Adelaide’s favorite was the cranberry sauce. This year she gobbled up everything we put on her plate!
Hope your thanksgiving was just as tasty as ours!
I'd love to hear what you think!
