At our last doctor’s appointment the doctor asked if I had felt the baby move yet. I had no idea what this would feel like and so answered with an emphatic, “no”. She said that I would probably feel it for the first time in the upcoming weeks.
Well…last night after dinner, I was sitting on the couch with my feet up on the coffee table (which is a common relaxation position in the Bauer household). I had my computer on my lap, searching the interwebs, when I felt this flutter feeling in my abdomen.
It felt kind of like butterflies in your stomach except way lower than your stomach and much less intense. Just, light flutters.
I wasn’t sure if that was really the baby or my intestines digesting my recently enjoyed turkey burger, so I didn’t get too excited and just waited to see if it would happen again. It happened several times over the next 20 minutes so I felt pretty sure that it was the baby I was feeling.
Matt was on the computer in the office and instead of yelling down the hall, I messaged him through iChat, “I think I just felt the baby move”. He yelled, “WHAT!?” and hurried to the living room to get the details. He was so excited for me, it was wonderful! He placed his hand on my belly, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to feel anything yet, but the action really made it feel like it was something we were experiencing together.
I am soooo looking forward to when Matt can feel the baby move. I think that’s going to be a really special event!
