Everyday at 6:15, Adelaide and I get in the car and drive fifteen minutes up the road to pick Matt up from work. Since parking at OHSU is insane (both in complication and price) it’s easier for us to just drive Matt to and from work each day. This wouldn’t be an option if his office was any further away, but it’s really quite close and I love the drive. We get to take Terwilliger, which if you’re familiar with Portland, is this gorgeous windy road with beautiful northwest forrest on both sides of you. Just lovely!
Anyhow, Adelaide and I typically leave with just enough time to get there, pick up Matt, and then get home for dinner, but last week, I decided to leave about an hour before we needed to pick Matt up so we could stop at the park on the way. Adelaide has never really been “into” parks. She’s only been a handful of times and each time, preferred to sit on the grass and watch the other kids playing. This time, though, there were no other kids, so she was free to explore without distraction.
The slide was the perfect grade for a beginning slider, so she loved the experience! She went down the slide four or five times, holding my hands each time, before she got distracted by a couple throwing a frisbee for their dogs.
Then we moved to the play structure where she enjoyed crawling through the plastic tube that connected the two towers.
And finally, I got her into the baby swing! Our last two attempts at the swing have not gone well, so I was skeptical. But swinging is SO MUCH FUN!!! I am determined. But luckily, this time she loved it! Yay!
Our trip to the park was so much fun! We will definitely be doing this again.
